ABOUT ME
SINGER • ACTOR • STORYTELLER • WRITER • EDUCATOR
From living room performances for my parents, summer camps, and elementary school plays to college theatre productions, recitals, and showcases, I have been performing and creating my entire life! It is what brings me joy–what makes me tick. My favorite thing about musical theatre specifically is its ability for stories to be told through song. The whole idea that characters sing because they're at a loss for words, and singing about it is the only way they can express themselves, is so powerful to me! It motivates me to put a lot of intention into my work and tell stories that people can resonate with. It’s a remarkable feat to convey a message so convincing that a room of a thousand people can all simultaneously be overcome with the same emotion.
When an idea gives me a physical visceral reaction, that’s when I know it’s something worth pursuing. Sometimes a chill down my spine is all the sign I need to know that I’ve made the right choice of what project to devote myself to next. My writing style tends to be very story-based. I like to make sure my songs take us somewhere different and new than where we started. It’s when I have a really strong inspiration or a specific goal in mind that I am able to do my best work. I will sit down at the piano until I find a musical hook that communicates what I have to say and my song just grows from there–measure by measure, note by note, one very deliberate choice after another. The best part about writing original work is that I am in control. Be it my heritage, my perspectives, my life experiences, or my voice type, I get to create something that represents me in all the ways that count. And, when I get to join a production and step into a role where I can continue sharing my story, it means the world to me.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about what ignites my passion for the arts. If you feel as called as I do to create, and think we can make some magic happen together, please do not hesitate to send me a message!
Stay groovy,
